Dear Parents,
November has been a vibrant and enriching month for our school community. From exciting educational trips to meaningful performances and community-building events, our students have embraced every opportunity to learn, explore, and shine. Here’s a look back at what made this past month so special.
The 6th graders stepped directly into history with an unforgettable visit to the Roman Forum. Before the trip, students researched important monuments, including the Lapis Niger, the Temple of Vesta, and the Column of Phocas, and prepared short presentations. During the visit, they enthusiastically presented what they had learned not only to their teachers but also to curious tourists who stopped to listen. It was a unique experiential learning moment that brought more than a millennium of history to life … right at our doorstep!
The 8th graders enjoyed an inspiring interdisciplinary excursion combining literature and art history. Their first stop was the Keats–Shelley House near the Spanish Steps. Here, students were able to deepen their understanding of the Romantic poets they have been studying in English class. The group then continued to the Mucha exhibition at Palazzo Bonaparte, where they explored the iconic Art Nouveau works of Alphonse Mucha. The visit offered a rich connection to their art history curriculum and sparked many thoughtful discussions.
The 7th graders participated in an engaging robotics workshop led by three students from Liceo Volterra, who we had met at the Maker Faire. The presenters showcased the robot they designed to measure water quality in lakes, explaining both the engineering behind it and its real-world applications. Our students were fully absorbed in the demonstration and left feeling inspired by the innovation and enthusiasm of their older peers.
In addition to our off-campus learning experiences, November was filled with on-campus events that brought families, teachers, and students together. The middle school students organized a very successful Charity Fair and, thanks to the participation of the whole school community, we managed to raise € 700 for Save the Children! This reminded us all how powerful it can be when young people come together to help others. It was a real pleasure to see the older students encourage and help the younger ones play the various fun games that they organized. Most importantly, together, we helped raise funds that will make a real difference in the lives of children in need. We are proud of our students for showing such care and community spirit!
It proved to be another exciting month in the elementary school. We were visited by the Bloom Theatre group who performed a fascinating and entertaining version of ‘A Christmas Carol.’ The drama did not stop there though. Our Grade 3s performed their assembly based on the theme of healing the world. Building on the Grade 4 assembly the previous month - which focused on how we can mend and strengthen our relationships with one another - this one demonstrated how we can heal many aspects of our lives and indeed the planet. Thanks to the students’ work with weeding, watering and planting, the school vegetable garden is looking good. The kale, broccoli, salad and swiss chard they planted are growing and soon they will be able to pick some to take home.
This was also the month of Parent-Teacher meetings. Thank you to all families who participated. These conversations help strengthen the partnership that supports each student’s progress.

Il mese di novembre è stato vivace e ricco di esperienze per la nostra comunità scolastica. Dai viaggi didattici entusiasmanti alle rappresentazioni significative e agli eventi che rafforzano il senso di comunità, i nostri studenti hanno colto ogni opportunità per imparare, esplorare e brillare. Ecco uno sguardo a ciò che ha reso questo mese così speciale.
Gli studenti di 1ª media hanno fatto un vero e proprio tuffo nella storia con un’indimenticabile visita al Foro Romano. Prima dell’uscita, gli alunni hanno svolto ricerche sui monumenti più importanti, tra cui il Lapis Niger, il Tempio di Vesta e la Colonna di Foca, preparando brevi presentazioni. Durante la visita, hanno illustrato con entusiasmo ciò che avevano imparato non solo ai loro insegnanti, ma anche ai turisti curiosi che si sono fermati ad ascoltare. È stato un momento unico di apprendimento esperienziale che ha dato vita a più di un millennio di storia… proprio fuori dalla nostra porta di casa!
Gli studenti di terza media hanno preso parte a un’affascinante uscita interdisciplinare che ha combinato letteratura e storia dell’arte. La prima tappa è stata la Keats–Shelley House, vicino a Piazza di Spagna, dove hanno potuto approfondire la conoscenza dei poeti romantici studiati nelle lezioni di inglese. Il gruppo ha poi proseguito verso la mostra di Mucha a Palazzo Bonaparte, esplorando le iconiche opere Art Nouveau di Alphonse Mucha. La visita ha offerto un ricco collegamento con il programma di storia dell’arte e ha stimolato discussioni molto interessanti.
Gli studenti di 2ª media hanno partecipato a un coinvolgente laboratorio di robotica tenuto da tre ragazzi del Liceo Volterra, conosciuti durante la Maker Faire. I presentatori hanno mostrato il robot da loro progettato per misurare la qualità dell’acqua nei laghi, spiegando sia l’ingegneria alla base del progetto sia le sue applicazioni reali. I nostri studenti sono stati completamente catturati dalla dimostrazione e sono usciti ispirati dall’innovazione e dall’entusiasmo dei loro compagni più grandi.
Oltre alle esperienze fuori dal campus, novembre è stato ricco di eventi scolastici che hanno riunito famiglie, insegnanti e studenti. Gli studenti della scuola media hanno organizzato una Fiera di Beneficenza di grande successo e, grazie alla partecipazione di tutta la comunità scolastica, siamo riusciti a raccogliere 700 € per Save the Children! Ciò ci ha ricordato quanto possa essere potente quando i giovani si uniscono per aiutare gli altri. È stato davvero un piacere vedere gli studenti più grandi incoraggiare ed aiutare i più piccoli a giocare ai vari giochi divertenti da loro stessi organizzati. E soprattutto, insieme, abbiamo contribuito a raccogliere fondi che faranno la differenza nella vita dei bambini bisognosi. Siamo orgogliosi dei nostri studenti per la loro sensibilità e il loro spirito di comunità!
Novembre è stato un altro mese entusiasmante anche per la scuola elementare. Abbiamo ospitato la compagnia Bloom Theatre, che ha rappresentato una versione affascinante e divertente di A Christmas Carol. Ma il teatro non si è fermato lì: gli studenti della terza hanno messo in scena la loro assembly sul tema del “guarire il mondo”. Sulla scia dell’assembly di quarta dello scorso mese – incentrata su come possiamo recuperare e rafforzare le nostre relazioni – questa nuova rappresentazione ha mostrato come possiamo guarire molti aspetti della nostra vita e anche del pianeta. Grazie al lavoro degli studenti nel diserbo, nell’irrigazione e nella semina, l’orto della scuola appare in splendida forma. Il cavolo nero, i broccoli, l’insalata e le bietole che hanno piantato stanno crescendo e presto potranno raccoglierne un po’ da portare a casa.
Questo è stato anche il mese dei colloqui genitori-insegnanti. Grazie a tutte le famiglie che hanno partecipato. Questi incontri aiutano a rafforzare la collaborazione che sostiene il progresso di ciascuno studente.
